Linguistics in Nepal
By Yogendra P. YadavaThe Central Department of Linguistics was set up at Tribhuvan University in May 1996. It is long overdue in a country like Nepal, which is characterized by a striking linguistic diversity and cultural richness. This department offers academic programs leading to MA and Ph.D. degrees. It aims to provide in-depth expertise in linguistics and apply it to meet the requirements for Nepalese context. The department also organizes talks, short-term training and summer courses in general In addition, the department also seeks affiliation with individual linguists and academic institutions interested in carrying out research on languages of Nepal and the related issues. For this, they can apply to the Research Division, Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur, Kathmandu, Nepal, with their research proposal. In case of short-term affiliation, they can directly apply to:
