About the exhibition The Blue Revolution

The exhibition 'The Blue Revolution' shows an overview of the results of the Artists in Residence programme between Delft en Jingdezhen, featuring blue and white ceramic art works by contemporary Dutch and Chinese artists.

In 2006, the two cities renewed their 400-year old connection by engaging in the joint programme 'Delft Jingdezhen 400-year cultural exchange'. Since, there have been many contacts between both cities, including the artists in residence programme. This programme provides contemporary ceramics artists from both cities with an opportunity to further develop their knowledge and inspiration from within a different culture.

The Blue Revolution will be on view in the Museum Het Prinsenhof in Delft until 1 September 2013. It will then be shipped to China, where it will be on display again in the Imperial Porcelain Museum in Jingdezhen from 18 October 2013.

IIAS supports this exhibition in the framework of the Institute's Outreach Programme, which aims to bring a wider public into contact with Asian cultures and societies.

Also see the article "Delft-Jingdezhen: The Blue Revolution, 400 Year Exchange" (pdf) which appeared in The Newsletter issue 64, IIAS's free quarterly publication.
