Fellowships at IIAS

IIAS invites outstanding scholars to apply for a fellowship to work on an individual research project in the field of Asian studies in the social sciences or humanities. Scholars specialising in Asian-African interactions may also apply for the ASC-IIAS joint fellowship.

Next application deadlines:
IIAS Fellowship: 1 February each year
ASC-IIAS Fellowship: 15 March / 15 September
Gonda fellowship at IIAS: 1 April / 1 October

In memoriam Max Sparreboom

It is with deep regret that we inform you of the death, on the 30th August 2016, of Professor Max Sparreboom, member of the IIAS board between 2001 and 2006 and director of IIAS between 2006 and 2009. In these years he  consolidated the national and international position of IIAS, and used his contacts with Dutch and European organisations to initiate new programmes in the field of Asian Studies. | More
